How we work

Creative collaboration

We always work alongside you. The best work to come out of this studio has always started in rooms where the client talked as much as we did.

A brand isn't something a studio hands over and walks away from. It's something the people running the business have to live inside afterwards, which only works if they recognised themselves in it from the start.

Our process is deliberately unglamorous. You'll see the work early, while it's still easy to change. You'll also hear the reasoning behind it all, and when something isn't working, we'll tell you.

Who we work with

Established companies

Businesses with a real history and a brand that doesn't represent it anymore. A rebrand here is part archaeology, part design: finding what was always true about the business and giving it a shape that fits the current trend.

Local communities

Groups, venues and initiatives working with small budgets and big stakes. The work has to hold up, be easy to reproduce, and be owned by people who aren't designers.

Creatives

Authors, and other creatives who need book covers, identity and the website that creatively illustrates their identity.

100% human made

Hand drawn

Every mark, layout and illustration in this studio is made by a person.

Why it matters commercially

AI generated design is, by definition, an average of everything that already exists. Averages don't get remembered, and being forgettable is the one thing your brand can't afford.

Why it matters ethically

The alternative is built on work taken from designers and illustrators who were never asked and never paid. We'd rather not be part of that, thank you.

What it costs you

Time. Hand made work takes longer than generated work. What you get in return is something nobody else can produce by typing the same prompt into the same box.

Where the collaboration happens

Sketches shared before they're refined designs. Direction chosen together. Feedback treated as useful information.

What you're left with

A brand your team can explain to a new starter, or associate.

Come and make something with us. Let's talk.
